1) Data shows conservative lawmakers out of touch with conservative voters - "Lawmakers from both parties consistently thought their constituents were far more conservatives than they actually are."

2) Why? A possible explanation is mentioned on "Up w/ Chris Hayes", the intensity of public opinion makes a difference. The conservative views tend to be held more intensely, and are expressed with more vehemence.

AP writer feels sorry for those poor overtaxed rich people

An article posted in AP "Tax bills for rich families approach 30-year high" seems to lament the idea that because the rich have become even richer with unprecedented concentration of wealth, they are burdened by paying even more in taxes. Never mind the fact that these families have become richer than ever even with the current tax structure. Meanwhile the rest of us have become worse off, and so we have no money to pay taxes with.
